Bylaw Enforcement Complaints

Bylaw Enforcement Officers are given the task of investigating written complaints about alleged violations of View Royal's bylaws. If you have a concern about a perceived bylaw infraction, such as an infraction involving excessive noise, a hazardous property condition, or a potential zoning infraction, you can submit a complaint to the Town.

Complaints may be made by filling out and submitting a Bylaw Enforcement Complaint Form [PDF - 62 KB] by email, by contacting the Bylaw Enforcement Department, by mail or in person at the Town Hall.

Please note: when making a complaint by email or mail, the Town requires the complainant to provide their name, address and phone number, as well as the complainant's association with the issue of complaint, in order for the Town's Bylaw Enforcement Officer to investigate. All personal information provided by a complainant is protected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Grant-in-Aid Forms

Each year Council considers Grant-in-Aid requests for non-profit organizations seeking financial assistance. Grants-in-aid are issued for requests of start up assistance or a one time special project. To apply for a Grant-in-Aid, you must fill out an application form [PDF - 30 KB] and submit it to the Town by January 31st of each calendar year.

Property Tax Forms

To apply for your Home Owner Grant online, click here.

To receive consideration for a permissive tax exemption, properties must qualify for an exemption under the provisions of the Community Charter and the Town's Property Tax Exemption Policy [PDF - 22 KB]. Click here [PDF - 37 KB] to download a Permissive Tax Exemption Application form.

To ensure that you receive your property tax notice, we require your correct mailing address. If you move or if the address to which your tax notice should be mailed has changed, please complete this online Change of Address Notification Form and submit it to the BC Assessment Authority by pressing the "submit form" button at the bottom of the web page.

Secondary Suites

Secondary suites are legal in some zones within View Royal. If you believe your property is permitted to have a suite and would like to apply for a permit, you will need a Secondary Suite Permit Application Form  and a Statutory Declaration Form . Tree Removal or Alteration Permits

View Royal requires a permit for the removal or alteration of designated trees within the Town. The permit provides a level of protection to ensure the urban forest is maintained. Before removing or altering a tree, property owners must ensure that the tree is not designated as protected, significant  or as a replacement tree.
