Permissive Property Tax Exemptions

Some properties such as libraries, hospitals and educational institutions are automatically exempt from property taxes. In addition to the automatic exemptions, municipalities may exempt certain properties from property taxes such as those held by charitable or not-for-profit organizations, those held by athletic clubs, or properties that are part of a revitalization area.

To receive consideration for a permissive tax exemption, properties must qualify for an exemption under the provisions of the Community Charter and the Town's Property Tax Exemption Policy [PDF - 22 KB]. Applications for permissive tax exemptions are available at the Town Hall. You may also access the Permissive Property Tax Exemption Application Form [PDF - 37 KB] online, print it off and submit it at Town Hall, 45 View Royal Avenue.
