Welland Legacy Park & Community Orchard - Free Workshops

Welland Legacy Park & Community Orchard is proud to offer the following two free workshops:

Summer Pruning Fruit Trees:

Join us as we welcome back Michael Cowan of Edibella Landscapes for an engaging workshop on the hows and whys of pruning your fruit trees & vines in the summer. Pruning in the summer? That's right! It can be done. Conventional wisdom holds that pruning is done in the late winter & early spring, but we are blessed to live in a climate where we can also prune in the summer without risking damage to our trees. Summer pruning holds many benefits, and is especially relevant for espaliered and dwarf trees. It's also a super good excuse to get into your tree and get excited about the ripening fruit!

This workshop is offered for free thanks to support from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Tree Canada & the Town of View Royal.

No registration required, email welland@lifecyclesproject.ca for more info.

Date: Saturday July 16th

Become a master of fruit tree multiplication! Learn how to customize your fruit tree with your favourite varieties! Join us to learn the theory behind grafting and the best techniques at this time of the year, and then get a chance to practice what you've learned on real trees with some of our awesome heritage varieties.
