Town of View Royal Welcomes New CAO

View Royal, BC - Mayor Sid Tobias and Council are pleased to announce that Scott Sommerville has been selected as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of View Royal.

“After a lengthy search and robust competition, we are excited to welcome Scott Sommerville to the Town of View Royal team,” said Mayor Tobias. “Scott’s impressive track record of accomplishments, leadership, and dedication to serving the community made him the perfect fit for View Royal."

Mr. Sommerville brings a versatile set of leadership skills and 15 years of experience as a CAO, most recently in the City of Kimberley. Throughout his municipal career, he has focused on being a well-rounded local government professional with the ability to relate to and collaborate with all departments, Mayor and Council, and the public. He is passionate about strategic planning and is dedicated to innovative community engagement.

I was drawn to Mayor and Council's diverse experience as well as their commitment to climate leadership, sound decision-making, and public engagement,” said Sommerville. “I look forward to working alongside the management team and immersing myself in all that View Royal has to offer.”

View Royal Council led a comprehensive recruitment process with support from Tall Cedars Search and Recruitment following the retirement of former CAO Kim Anema in the fall of 2023.

Mr. Sommerville started in his new role on January 9, 2024.
