View Royal Resident Starts Cross-Canada Cycling Journey

Today View Royal resident Gilbert Lowe sets out on a cross-Canada cycling journey. Cycling from Victoria to Halifax, this 70 year-old vegan (the "Vegan Geezer" as he refers to himself) is taking on this challenge for two main reasons: to prove he can complete the journey on a healthy "whole food plant based" diet, and to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis research.

Gilbert writes, "this journey is one of the hardest projects I've ever undertaken. Imagine a 70 year-old pedaling a heavy bike, pulling a 60+ lb trailer up and down the hills and mountains along the way. Oh! What a struggle it will be...but pales in comparison to the daily struggles young Canadians with Cystic Fibrosis have."

He believes every dollar donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada will bring researchers one step closer to finding a cure or control for the disease. All financial support raised on his journey goes towards supporting research projects, and serving Canadians with cystic fibrosis, their families and health professionals.
