Free Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop - February 19

Free Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Date: Sunday, February 19th

Time: 1-3 pm

Place: Welland Legacy Park & Community Orchard, 1215 Stancil Lane

One of the most important skills in your arsenal of excellent fruit tree care is how to properly prune your tree! Proper pruning helps to prevent disease & damage, improve fruit quality and allows you to guide your trees growth in a way that suits you both. There's also plenty of room for aesthetic concern, so bring your inner tree sculptor along too.

As always, our local fruit tree pruning expert Michael Cowan of Edibella Organic Landscapes will be leading this workshop. Michael is great at communicating the basic concepts you'll need to understand to approach your trees, and is great a fielding more complex questions! We've got great examples of all shapes and sizes of apple trees, as well as pears, plums, figs, grapes, kiwis, persimmon, medlar, quince and hazelnut to inspire us!

Bring a pair of pruners if you have them, and dress for the weather. Parking is limited so consider carpooling, taking the bus or hopping on your bike. Welland Legacy Park is right on the Galloping Goose, and the 14, 22 and 50 bus routes all drop you within walking distance of the park. See you there!
