Community Orchard Info Session

Date: Thursday February 23rd

Time: 6-7:30 pm

Place: View Royal Town Hall, 45 View Royal Avenue

Welland Legacy Park & Community Orchard is a unique pocket park in View Royal, that houses an established orchard in it's midst. The Community Orchard has over 150 fruit trees & vines, including a collection of 100 varieties of rare apples, as well as plums, pears, kiwis, grapes, figs, persimmon, paw paw, sour cherry, hazelnut, medlar, quince and shipova! Last year we harvested over 2700 lbs of fruit.

LifeCycles Project Society and the Town of View Royal work with a crew of enthusiastic volunteers to maintain the park and deliver workshops and other educational programming. This year we're looking to build and expand the ways that community members can get involved - including an exciting new Tree Steward program for folks who want to zero in on their holistic tree care skills. We're also looking for volunteers who are interested in supporting other aspects of the project, from hosting events and tours to fundraising, research and graphic design.

Come join us at a info session to learn about all the ways you can get involved in this unique community orchard project. There will be a brief presentation at the beginning, but feel free to drop in at any time. Snacks and tea will be provided. If you can't make it, please email welland@lifecyclesproject.ca for more info.
