Welland Community Orchard - Volunteer Work Parties - October & November

WELLAND LEGACY PARK

Volunteer Work Parties

A great opportunity to meet new friends and learn about fruit tree care throughout the year! This fall we'll be spreading mulch, repairing our espalier trellis, continuing to harvest apples and getting our public community orchard ready for winter.  Kids welcome!

  • Sunday, October 1st, 1-4 pm
  • Sunday, October 15th, 2:30-4pm (after our Native Pollinator Workshop)
  • Sunday, November 5th, 1-4pm
  • Sunday, November 19th, 1-4pm

Native Pollinators Workshop:

Sunday, October 15th, 1 pm - 2:30 pm, free for View Royal residents, $5 for general public.

What is an orchard without its pollinators?  A whole lot of trees with not a fruit in sight! It's thanks to our hard-working insect friends, flying from flower to flower, that we get any fruit at the Welland Legacy Park at all.  Join our Native Pollinator steward Brian Yeo to learn about one of the most important parts of the Welland Legacy Park & Community Orchard.  This is a great opportunity to learn the step-by-step processes to help care for our native orchard pollinators.
