Staying Safe Around Overhead Power Lines

In response to an uptick in power line accidents this year during yard work season, BC Hydro reminds property owners to keep a minimum three metres from power lines when trimming trees or doing other yard work.

Whether you are working on your home, trimming trees, or getting outside to play, always remember to stay three metres (10 feet) away from power lines. That means above, below, and beside.

Electricity can arc across a gap, to you or even to tools and ladders that you're using. That's why keeping a safe distance is always important. By staying back three metres, you know you'll be safe.
