Message from Mayor Tobias: Congratulations for Service
August 18, 2025
Congratulations, Superintendent Todd Preston
After 28 years of dedicated service to your country and your community, you've earned not just a retirement, but the deep appreciation of those you've served—day in, day out—with courage, commitment, and compassion.
Leading the West Shore RCMP is no easy post. Serving five municipalities and two First Nations—each with their own unique challenges and strengths—requires more than just experience. It demands vision, diplomacy, and the kind of steady leadership that brings people together. Add to that the pressures of a fast-growing population and evolving public expectations, and the task becomes even more complex.
And yet, throughout your time as Officer in Charge, you've met those challenges with grace and resolve. You've built trust where it mattered most. You've shown up—in good times and tough ones. And you've left a legacy of partnership and professionalism that will endure long after your last shift.
Here in View Royal, we're especially grateful for the way you've leaned in—listening to concerns, sharing your insight, and always working with us to keep our community safe and strong. Your retirement marks the end of an exceptional chapter, but I know your influence will continue to shape this region for years to come.
So thank you, Todd—for your service, your leadership, and your heart. We wish you nothing but the best in this next season of life.
With respect and warm regards,
Sid Tobias
Mayor of View Royal
