Town of View Royal Provides Year-End Update on View Royal 2050

Thank you to everyone who contributed to View Royal 2050, the process to update the Town’s Official Community Plan. Since January 2025, the project team has delivered five engagement touchpoints, each designed to gather ideas, perspectives, and lived experience from the community. Together, these activities will help shape View Royal’s future.

Through surveys, pop-ups, workshops, and open houses, we heard from community members about what matters most for the Town’s long-term direction. Residents shared their thoughts on future growth, housing needs, transportation, parks and green spaces, climate action, economic opportunities, and neighbourhood character. All of this feedback has been used to inform updates to the Town’s Official Community Plan, which will guide change over the next 20 years.

On Tuesday, December 2, Town Council adopted Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 811, 2011, Amendment Bylaw No. 1156, 2025. This was a critical milestone for the Town as municipalities were required by the Provincial government to update their Official Community Plans by December 31, 2025, to align with new provincial housing requirements.

The project team is now preparing What We Heard reports for the three recent engagement touchpoints, including the Visioning Survey engagement between July 18 and September 7, the Western Gateway Community Corridor engagement between October 10 and November 7, and the Policy Review engagement that took place between November 8 and November 30. These reports will be available on the project website in early 2026. In addition to the preparation of these reports, work is underway on the first draft of the new Official Community Plan, which will be shared with the community for review and feedback in early 2026.
