Wildfire Season is Here – We’re Ready. Are You?

As warmer, drier weather arrives, so too does the risk of wildfire. Start preparing your home and property now to reduce the potential impacts of wildfire in our community.

View Royal Fire Rescue is here to help. Through the View Royal FireSmart program, the department is working with residents to raise awareness about wildfire risks and provide practical advice for making homes and neighbourhoods more resilient to wildfire.

FireSmart is a national program designed to help individuals and communities take action to reduce the threat of wildfire. From simple home and yard maintenance tips to choosing non-combustible building materials and fire-resistant plants, there are many steps you can take to better protect your home.

This spring and summer, View Royal Fire Rescue will be out in the community hosting FireSmart events. These events are a great opportunity to learn more about wildfire risks and how you can get prepared.

Join us this weekend at Thrifty Foods for the launch of the FireSmart Plant Program and at the View Royal Fire Department for the Annual Open House. Come by to meet your local firefighters, learn about the FireSmart program, and discover a selection of fire-resistant plants marked with special FireSmart tags to help guide your landscaping choices.
