Accessible Playground Upgrades Coming to View Royal and Helmcken Centennial Parks

November 6, 2026

New accessible playground equipment is coming to View Royal Park and Helmcken Centennial Park!

At its September 22, 2026 meeting, Council approved the purchase and installation of new playground equipment at both parks, supporting more inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

Installation is expected to begin during the week of November 9, 2026.

Park Access During Installation

Both parks will remain open while the work is underway. However, portions of the playgrounds and surrounding areas may be temporarily closed during installation.

Residents can also expect construction activity, including heavy equipment and noise, in and around the work areas. Please follow posted signs, respect construction barriers and stay clear of closed areas to help keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your patience while these improvements are underway!
