Message from Mayor Tobias: Supporting Vegetation Management Along the Island Rail Corridor

You may notice crews working along sections of the Island Rail Corridor in View Royal beginning Monday, July 20.
 
The Town of View Royal is providing funding to the Island Corridor Foundation to support vegetation management within the View Royal portion of the Island Rail Corridor. The rail corridor is owned and managed by the Island Corridor Foundation, a registered charity representing local governments and First Nations along the corridor.
 
This work will remove overgrown vegetation, including highly flammable Scotch broom, helping to reduce wildfire risk and improve visibility along the corridor. Clearing vegetation also helps discourage illegal dumping, unauthorized encampments, and other activities that are more likely to occur in concealed areas.
 
By supporting this work, the Town is helping protect public safety, improve the appearance of the corridor, and contribute to the long-term stewardship of this important regional asset.
