Climate Change in View Royal

View Royal is already experiencing some of the impacts of climate change in the form of extreme weather. In August 2021, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report summarizing decades of research that confirms, “climate change is widespread, rapid and intensifying” (IPCC Report, August 2021).

So while “weather” will change day-to-day, the trend over the long term will be more dramatic shifts between hot and cold, wet and dry.

For View Royal this will look like:

Mitigation vs. Adaptation

  • Mitigation is the process of reducing the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) we produce.
  • Adaptation is the process of changing our behavior, infrastructure, and systems to plan for and manage the unavoidable impacts of climate change.

Both need to be done at an individual, community, provincial, national and global scale.
