Nomination Packages Now Available for the 2026 Election

Nomination packages are now available for persons interested in running for a position on Town Council for the upcoming General Local Election to be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

On election day, eligible voters will cast their ballot to elect:

  • one (1) Mayor;
  • six (6) Councillors;

Voters will also elect School Trustees for either School District No. 61 or School District No. 62, depending on where they live.

Nomination packages can be downloaded from the Information for Candidates page or picked up at View Royal Town Hall (45 View Royal Avenue). The nomination period opens at 9:00am on Tuesday, September 1 and closes at 4:00pm on Friday, September 11.

Please note: Town Hall summer hours (8:00am to 4:00pm) are in effect until Friday, September 4. Beginning Tuesday, September 8, Town Hall will return to its regular hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm. Candidates planning to file their nomination documents after September 4 should be aware of the change in office hours.

Those interested considering running for office are invited to attend the Town's Candidate Readiness Workshop on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00pm at View Royal Town Hall. This drop-in session is an opportunity to learn more about the role of elected officials, ask questions, and determine whether running for Council is right for you.
