Film Screening: “The Test” Wildfire Documentary
June 27, 2025 (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM)
Join us for a screening of the film “The Test” on Friday June 27 from 6:30 – 8:30pm at the Public Safety Building. Popcorn, light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The event is sponsored by the View Royal FireSmart Program and as such there is no cost to participants.
Event Overview:
“The Test” is a documentary based on a true story and explores the 2021 Tremont Creek wildfire and its impact on the community of Logan Lake, BC.
The Town of Logan Lake spent 18 years preparing for a wildfire they hoped would never come. And then, in the summer of 2021, it did. The Test is the story of the Town of Logan Lake's efforts to make their community more fire resilient, eventually becoming the first FireSmart community in Canada. But when the 2021 Tremont Creek Wildfire roared toward them, all eyes were on the little community as nobody knew if all of that work would pay off and if they would pass the test.
Following the screening, we will host a community discussion panel featuring local wildfire mitigation specialists, emergency preparedness experts and experienced wildfire responders. The discussion will engage the community in sharing experiences, asking questions, and learning how to better prepare for wildfires. Our goal is to raise awareness of FireSmart practices and provide practical knowledge to enhance personal and community wildfire preparedness.
