ReImagine West Shore Event - POWER PLAY
July 28, 2024 (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
ReImagine West Shore invites you to POWER PLAY, a community festival celebrating sustainable living and all things electric!
Happening Sunday, July 28th from noon to 4pm at the Victoria Scottish Community Centre and Craigflower Manor National Historic Site in View Royal, the free all-ages event includes funky live off-the-grid music from HOT POT, a chance to dress up in your favourite upcycled costumes (electrified superheroes recommended!), cruise cool exhibits, make and fly a kite in the KidZone courtesy of 4Mile BrewPub, and check-out a culinary throw-down featuring View Royal Mayor Sid Tobias facing off against Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi.

It’s a fresh take on tailgating with the two cooking off on induction hotplates powered by two Ford F-150 Lightning electric pick-up trucks! The mayors will be preparing their best dishes to be judged by a VIP panel, which includes Executive Chef Ken Nakano of the Inn at Laurel Point (Aura Waterfront Restaurant & Patio), Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson, Metchosin Mayor Marie-Térèse Little, and Sooke Mayor Maja Tait.
POWER PLAY is a collaboration between ReImagine West Shore and the Capital Regional District’s Climate Action Program, Town of View Royal, City of Colwood, View Royal Climate Coalition, South Island Climate Action Network, and others eager to connect community with knowledgeable people, and the products and services folks need to shift to more sustainable ways … electric transportation, heat pumps, garden tools, chef-level induction cooking, solar, and more! We are also grateful to BC Hydro, Thrifty Foods (Admirals Walk), Canadian Tire, Gablecraft Homes, 4Mile BrewPub, and Campus Auto Group for their support of this regional outreach event.
