Thinking of running for Council? On June 29, attend the virtual session "Municipal Council Workings: What Everyone Should Know". The session is for anyone thinking of running for municipal election and anyone who would like to know more about what municipal officials do.

2022 General Local and School Board Elections

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, eligible voters will cast their ballot to elect:

  • one (1) Mayor;
  • six (6) Councillors;
  • nine (9) Greater Victoria School District No. 61 Trustees;
  • four (4) Sooke School District No. 62 Trustees.

General Voting

General voting day is October 15, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Polling stations are View Royal Elementary School (218 Helmcken Road) and Eagle View Elementary School (97 Talcott Road). 

Advance Voting

Advance voting opportunities will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 and on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. both days at View Royal Town Hall (45 View Royal Avenue).

Same Day Voter Registration

As the Town does not maintain a voter's list, voter registration takes place at the time of voting. To register, you will be required to sign a declaration that you meet the voter requirements and produce two (2) pieces of identification. 

Vote by Mail Ballot

Registered electors (resident and non-resident) may request a mail ballot by filling out an application to vote by mail. Application forms will be made available in the coming months. 

Candidates

The candidate nomination period begins at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and ends on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. Nomination packages will be available in late July/early August.
