Having trouble viewing the live webcast?

How to Participate in a Meeting

At Council meetings, Committee of the Whole meetings and Public Hearings, people have the opportunity to provide comments or questions via phone or written submissions. An online chat feature will also be available for Public Hearings only. Comments from the public are shared during the Public Participation Period or Staff Reports portions of the agenda. Questions from the public are shared during the Question Period portion of the agenda. Written submissions appear under the Correspondece section of the agenda or under the subject the correspondence pertains to on the agenda.

To participate by phone (audio only):

  1. Dial 778-402-9227.
  2. Enter the Conference ID number for the meeting.
  3. Your audio will immediately be muted so as not to interrupt the meeting in progress. Please refrain from speaking or unmuting your phone until asked to do so.
  4. When you hear the Chair announce the last 4 digits of your phone number, mute the live webcast on your computer to avoid feedback.
  5. Press *6 (star 6) on your phone to unmute.
  6. State your name and address for the record.
  7. Share your comment or question to Council/Committee.

To participate by online chat feature (for Public Hearings only):

  1. Click 'Watch Live' to view the live webcast.
  2. Join the meeting using Microsoft Teams OR select 'Watch on the web instead'.
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft account OR select 'Join anonymously'.
  4. Click the small Q&A icon on the top right corner of the screen. 
  5. Select 'Ask a Question' at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  6. Type your name, address and comment or question in the box and select 'Send'.
  7. Your comment/question will be read aloud to Council/Committee during the appropriate time on the agenda.

To submit written comments to Council/Committee:

Comments can also be submitted by email to mayorandcouncil@viewroyal.ca or by mail to Mayor and Council, Town of View Royal, 45 View Royal Avenue, Victoria, BC V9B 1A6.  The deadline to receive comments is 3:00pm on the day of the Council meeting or 1:00pm on the day of the Committee of the Whole meeting.
