2026 Community Satisfaction Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the Town’s 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey. The survey provides an updated look at residents’ experiences living in View Royal, their satisfaction with municipal services, and the issues and priorities that matter most to them.
A total of 334 residents completed the survey, which was conducted by Leger, an independent research firm, from June 15 to August 8, 2026.
What Residents Told Us
Overall, the survey presents a positive picture of life in View Royal. Residents reported high satisfaction with their quality of life and with the municipal services they receive. 73% of respondents were satisfied with the overall level and quality of Town services, compared with a BC benchmark of 50%.
Some of the key findings include:
- Quality of life: 96% rated the overall quality of life in View Royal as good.
- Value for taxes: 65% said they receive good value for their tax dollars.
- Town services: Satisfaction was highest for parks and trails (89%), garbage collection (88%) and Fire/Rescue services (86%).
- Traffic and roads: Traffic congestion and road maintenance emerged as the clearest areas for attention and improvement.
- Planning and development: Residents expressed strong interest in receiving information about community planning and land development proposals.
- Communication and transparency: 33% agreed that decisions made by the Town are clearly explained to residents, highlighting an opportunity to strengthen communication about planning, decision-making and how public input is considered.
- Engagement: 38% were satisfied with opportunities to engage with the Town. 23% reported they had participated in a public engagement opportunity during the previous year.
About the Survey
The Town partnered with Leger to conduct the 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey. The survey builds on the Town’s previous survey in 2019 and was designed to provide an updated understanding of residents’ views.
A total of 5,635 postcards were mailed to View Royal households with a unique PIN to participate in the online survey. Residents also had the option to complete the survey via telephone or hardcopy. The survey received 334 completed responses, including 14 telephone interviews.
How the Results Will Be Used
The survey provides Council and Town staff with a current snapshot of residents’ perspectives and a baseline to help inform ongoing planning, service delivery and decision-making.
The findings will help inform the incoming Council’s strategic planning process, helping guide priorities, investments, and decision-making over the coming years
